Emily Picha

Portland is delightful.

Ever since I got to this place, music has been surrounding me, and my heart has a new home. I'm painting a new life on my impossibly blank slate and I feel better than ever. This place of looming volcanoes and violently green foilage. Of soggy bus riders and flannel shirts. The place where my stories collected themselves and are gathering around a fire, so I sing them and play them out often these days. I feel free.

I've played concerts in California, Oregon, and Germany. Recently the banjo has popped into my musical world, with it's cheery lilt and fascinating voice. Musically, I am still going through puberty. Still so so so so much to learn and hear.

I've been humming songs beneath my breath since I can't remember, but I can trace my songwriting back to the heydey of 1998. I would sit for hours in my room with a ghettoblaster and record songs.
